Formerly best known fro producing Folk music, Thea brings with Lilac Sky a native Americana sound. Well whatever it might be native Americana sounds a lot as good up-tempo country! Songs like “Lilac Sky” and “Down by The water” are great examples of that; music with a lot of twang. But she hasn’t forgotten the balladry that inspired Peter, Paul & Mary to record one of her songs back in 2007. On “Do you best for Rock and Roll”, a cover version of the Linda & Teddy Thompson tune, she still knows how to sing a good ballad. Her rendition of this song is quite good and gives you also the possibility to hear the great piano work from Tim Ray (of Lyle Lovett fame). Another interpretation can be found on “When I find My Life” originally done by Marianne Faithfull Here voice is remarkable for sure. It’s not a typical sound and you need some time to get acquainted to it but once you are used to it you’ll find it emotionally expressive and enjoyable at the same time…and that can be said from this mini album as well.
