Texas born Singer Songwriter Jarrod Dickenson brings with “The Lonesome Traveler” a brand new album full of self penned songs performed with an uncommon spirit and invention. The tunes on his new album drenched in Blues, Folk and Country, gives you an excellent mix of all of these styles while always flirting with the more modern side of music. Reminiscent to al kinds of sounds and songs from the music of Justin Townes Earle to Chris Isaak this album has a lot to discover!

Leading “Tune Ain’t Waiting any Longer” throws you back a couple of years in time with a song that bring back fond memories to bands like Wilco or The Jayhawks. A brave mix of blues and soul marks this joyful tune in which Jarrod is proposing. “The Northern Sea” brings us more into the territory of Americana and Folk Music with a haunting tune and sing along refrain. On “No Work of A Working Man” (The Great depression song) the theme is much harsher. But somehow this song is also my favourite tune of the complete album. This one is not only about the big crisis that struck us all these days but more about lost hope and lost dreams! Another song that I like to share with you is Rosalie. This beautiful ballad like song is one that you surely have to check it out. Jarrod sings “my rambling days are over, I’m Laying down my guns, So leave the porch light on , I’m coming Home” and it’s not what he sings but it is the way he sings and brings it. While he’s miles away from Tom Waits, the man brings his tune in the same manner! He’s honest all the way long and you do believe his indentations are good even if we all know he’ll never lay down his guns. “Back to Eden” is another one that is worth to mention! Think of the walkabouts when listening to this tune.

The Lonesome Traveler is a great album that even gets better with every spin. Accompanied by some great musicians like Greg Leisz (Tay LaMontagne, Bon Iver),David Pilch (K.D. Lang), Jebin Bruni (Snow Patrol)and Sebastian Aymans (Gran Lee Buffalo) I can only recommend to keep your eyes peeled for it! To be released April the 1st.
