Fat Opie is already active for about twenty years now and over the years they have grown scientifically! What started back in 1994 as a grunge band evolved in an alternative rock band today that brings together the best of many sources. Take Jeff Tweedy, Thom Yorke and Eddie Vetter, blend them and you’ll get a niche smoothie called Victoryville, the brand new album by Fat Opie.

The Trio produces American folk-Rock with a post punk edge. Never far away from the musical ideas you’ll find in the music of Neil Young or Floggin’ Molly (thanks to the inclusion of the banjo) Fat Opie is never like them but always working in the same atmosphere. Rebels Pur Sang, but never without a cause. “Monster in the room” is about an upcoming depression: “It’s time to find some friendlier company” sings Mickelson. Title track Victoryville is about the life you dreamed of, the perfect world you created in your mind where you are the unsung hero and in “Crying in Spanish the band tackles on the paralyzed views on illegal immigration! Always ready to form an opinion in a well-mannered way the group is technically more punk orientated then you’ll think on first listening! Victoryville is the punk album for folk lovers. When Punks do folk, the outcome is Victoryville a mixture of many sounds and tunes, but above all a good album.
