Rate (1-5) : ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We all know Peter From "The Flatfoot shakers", "The Starliners", "The Stringbusters" and many, many, many other bands. But now, he released his first solo album. This album "I Hear the Road" is a combination of all goodies. After starting of with an uptempo western-swing tune "Roadhouse Romeo". You know this is going to be an exciting trip. Peter serves a nicely choosen blend of different styles from Western-swing (e.g. "I've Got Troubles On My Mind") up to some nice rockin' tunes (e.g. "My Baby Was Born To Rock"), and everything in between, rockabilly, honky tonk, hillbilly, country, ... . Even his instrumental "Tarcutta" made me wish I had a sombrero close at hand. It's one of the best CD's I have heard in a long time. I'm not going to describe every song in detail. I just want you to be as surprised and excited as I was when I heard it. There is one song I would like to pick out, one that really got my attention, "When Grandma Got High". This is a very nice Cajun-like song. I don't know if it was Pete's intention to give a wink to cajun-music, but it surely felt this way. Just add an accordeon and you have a cajun hit. Ok, I must admit, this is my favourit, and I can tell you it's not easy to find a favourit one on this CD because every song is a real masterpiece, and pete made sure choosing would be very difficult. It must be the purity, the simplicity and the funny lyrics that made this song one that gets you right in the heart and ... brings big a smile right on your face. Unfortunatly Peter can't hide his roots. Well, the word "unfortunatly" is extremly bad choosen, because personally I'm very glad. You can hear his typical style of pickin', I really love. Personally I could hear the sound of "The Stringbuster" very present, but this could be me, subconsciously hoping it would sound like that when I got the CD. Tracks: 1. Roadhouse Romeo 2.
