Rate (1-5) : ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In the ashes of soul mates, musical forefathers and regional neighbours the Milkshakes, The Prisoners & the Buff Medways, The Len Price 3 returns with a third album full of sharp tunes, sharp hooks, frenetic energy and adrenaline driven sounds. Thirteen songs long the band treats us on tunes that reminds us of such greats like the Who, The Creation or The Kinks mixed with some later elements from garage, punk & pop! Especially the influence of The Who is great on this album! Al over the record you can find traces of this band in their songs, their sounds and even in some chord progressions. The combination of the above mentioned influences is also the reason why on some tunes the bands sounds like a fresh young punk band in the mid seventies. Add to that the fact that the Len Price 3 recorded everything analogue to create a real vintage sound and the circle is complete. Most remarkable on this album are tunes like “The Girl Who Became a Machine”, “After You Gone” or “The Man Who used to be”. All of them sprouts a catchy chorus, with easy to remember phrases and lot’s of “lalalaaaa’s”. On “Mr. Grey” they went stealing some bits and pieces by their Liverpool idols the Beatles something they also did for “Jack in the Green”. “Under the Thumb” is another great song and one that sounds like coming fresh from the vaults of the Kinks. “The Great Omani” is closing the album in style and right in time to let you catch your breath! Pictures will be out mid January on CD and as a digital download but more interesting it will also be available as a vinyl edition as well including an extra bonus CD with 3 more tunes on it. As true lover and collector of vinyl I have to say that this is a nice treat for all vinyl aficionados out there. Mr Blue Boogie. |
