![]() Recently director Andrew Van Den Houten sent us a DVD with some movie clips and a behind the scenes feature of his newest movie Headspace, which gave us a good look on this intriguing movie. The trailer has been on our homepage for some time now, but if you shouldve missed it check it out here. The 25-year-old Alex Borden is a smart, young, handsome guy. A bit too smart maybe, but who cares? However when he meets Harry, a chess master, Alex starts to have weird dreams and nightmares His intelligence begins to grow out of proportions and with this, the horror in that invade his nightmares are growing too. Long suppressed memories are surfacing again. He has to face his violent past: a murdered mother, a vanished brother and father who left his two sons. Alex suffers from severe headaches that ultimately lead to black outs. Meanwhile neighbours are disappearing and people start to whisper about a serial killer! Can Alex overcome his past? Can he suppress all deadly urges? And more interesting, are the demons causing this, imagined or real? Headspace is certainly one horror thriller you have to go and see on the upcoming Brussels Fantastic Film Festival. The film clips we got from Andrew Van Den Houten were indeed of a nature that sparked our interest more then normal, weve got some good expectations on this upcoming movie.Reason enough for Razor Reel, to put everything upside down and start digging for the bare facts of Headspace. Who's behind the movie & who's in front of the camera? Directing this feature is Andrew Van Den Houten. President of ModernCine, a company he formed during his school years. Andrew started very young in the film business. He played as a child actor in some commercials, and later on moved on to graduate from Boston's Emerson College, where he marked his presence as a freshman by producing & co-starring in the independent movie Alma Matter. Later on he produced movies for his own company and directed commercials for Volkswagen, Lincoln, Mercury to name a few. Headspace is Andrews debut as director of a full-length feature film and we strongly believe that this movie won't pass without being noticed by the European distributors.![]() Jamie Kellman is the man behind the Special FX of this movie. The name might not say much, but he and his team contributed to big productions like Planet of The Apes, The Ring 1 & 2, Windtalkers, American History X and many others. With Headspace, its the first time, Jamie Kellman and his team are doing all the effects on their own. Another big name is Ryan Shore. The man who wrote the score for dozens of movies (including films like Vulgar, Scouts Honor, Harvards Man, Fur,...) and who is now touring with Matchbox Twenty. The cast on Headspace is also an intriguing bunch, to use an understatement. What follows is a fine selection of cult and veteran actors. Olivia Hussey (Dr Karen Murphy), an actress that doesn't need any introduction. Shes best known for her appearances in Stephen Kings It (1990), the cult classic Black Christmas (1974) or the recent TV movie Madre Theresa (2003). William Atherton (Dr Ira Gold) is another one who needs no introduction. Youll remember his face immediately, movies like Die Hard (1988), Ghostbusters (1984) or The Pelican Brief (1993). AND it doesn't stop here. Sean Young (Alex mother) is yet another veteran cult actress. Mostly known amongst cult followers for her work in Blade Runner (1982), this lady has a very extensive list of movie appearances, including titles like Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde (1995), Baby: Secret of the lost legend (1985) and Ace Ventura: Pet detective (1994). Mark Margolis another actor of this fine cast, beats Sean Youngs list with a handful more films, he appeared in over 70 movie. Mark has done almost everything: drama, big budget movies, independent movies, comedies, horror... you name it and the chance is big he did it. The Cotton Club (1984), Hanibal (2001), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) or even 1492, Conquest of paradise (1992) are only some of them. And still it isnt over. We can also see Dee Wallace Stone (as Dr Denise Bell) in Headspace. Most of the older readers will know her for her role in "The hills have eyes" (1979) where she was pursued by a clan of cannibal killers or maybe theyll remember her from The Howling (1981) or E.T. (1982). Recently you could catch her in The Lost (2005) and Boo! (also 2005). But, we can't deny it; here in Europe we are eager to see Udo Kier perform once more. This German actor has done so many things that it is impossible to put them all online here (about 160 movies) and it will do him no justice at all by simple naming some of his American movies. Razor Reel just want to give you some of his more illustrious European Movies, we gladly remember him in features like Hexen bis aufs Blut gequδlt (Mark of the Devil, 1970), Erotomaneis (1972) or from less successful (but great sounding) movies like Spermula (1976) or the unknown Hungarian film Krιtakφr (1976).Leading actor is Christopher Denham (Alex), a professional stage actor who is making his film debut in Headspace. And let us not forget Larry Fessenden (Alex Father), or even Eric Kastel (Harry). Larry Fessenden is as much behind the camera as in front of it. Larry is known as the director of the horror flick Wendigo (2001) and the thriller Last winter (2005) but also as actor in movies like The Roost (2005), The Off Season (2004 by James Felix McKenney, see also our friends section Hot as love) or the 2001 movie Session 9. His work as producer includes The Roost (2005), Zombie Honeymoon (2005) and the drama Satellite (2004). So, now I hope youll understand now why I say that we are curious about the movie and are eager to see the film. But above all we hope to meet Andrew Van Den Houten during the BIFFF festival this year and hopefully hell bring Udo Kier or somebody else along. more info on : http://www.headspacethemovie.com |
