Hey Guys at BillyBop ... With reference to your bulletin about the Eurovision entry from Patrick Ouchene ... Whoever wrote this bulletin .. Have you actually watched the video clip and listened to the lyrics of the song ??? For me personally I find the lyrics absolutely offensive and a complete insult to the respect and memory of Elvis Presley, his family and fans ... So it is NOT as you quote a "tribute" at all ... Completely the opposite in fact !!! When Patrick told me the news quite some time ago about his good news, I was genuinelly very happy for him and also had it in my mind that this would bring the ideal opportunity to expose our music (all Belgian rockin' bands) to a world-wide public ... It could be good for all of us .. Well ... NO !! ... I am certain this ridiculous concept and song will have completely the reverse effect, and I point my finger of blame not at Patrick at all BUT at the stupid mentality of the Belgian music industry and the song-writer Jacques Duvall who has composed a song which will probably bring both himself and Patrick a lot of troubles from a whole lot of people (How many fans does Elvis have ???) For me it says it all, as usual the 'powers that be' are only interested in one thing ... MONEY !! ... Nothing at all about respect, taste, quality or loyalty ... Mark Sprex |

Cultureel Centrum Hasselt, May 23, 2009 In May 2009, the American production ”The Original Elvis Tribute 2009” will be touring Europe. This show is unique in several respects, one being that it does not feature any impersonators and instead offers a genuine tribute, and secondly because it features several people that actually worked with Elvis – either as part of his rhythm-section, or as a songwriter. Duke Bardwell, who played bass for Elvis at more than 180 shows in the 70s, will also play the bass on this show, while songwriter Michael Jarrett will play the keyboards. Jarrett wrote songs like “I’ll Be Home On Christmas Day” en “I’m Leaving”, and especially the latter song was one of Elvis’ personal favorites. The show is a real must for both Elvis fans as well as rock & roll fans in general. Not only because the focus will be on Elvis’ greatest songs, but also because it features several top-musicians with a strong rock & roll pedigree. Leadsinger Ted Roddy was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame a few years ago, because of his outstanding country and rockabilly releases on labels like New Rose and Sunjay, and he’s one of the very few singers that can really do Elvis’ songs justice. Also part of this 7-piece formation are a.o. ‘rockabilly queen’ Vikki Lee on rhythm-guitar and the phenomenal Thierry Le Coz on lead-guitar. Le Coz has lived in Austin for the past 25 years, but he originally hails from France where he was an integral part of the rockabilly revival. In recent years, he’s received much praise for solo- releases like “Tex - French Connection” (Big Beat). Don’t miss seeing this remarkable Elvis show, which promises to be a spectacular celebration of The King’s finest music – as performed by those who live, love and breathe rock & roll. Beste, Ik ben Sandra en ik studeer ondertussen mijn tweede jaar fotografie aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Gent. Voor één van mijn projecten de komende weken wilde ik graag de rockabilly/rock 'n roll/ fifties/...community in België in beeld brengen. Ik zoek daarvoor zoveel mogelijk aanhangers van deze levensstijl die bereid zijn zich individueel of in groep te laten portretteren. Ik zoek ook events, happenings, gemeenschappen waar de rock 'n roll nog steeds standaard is en kan dus alle informatie en hulp gebruiken. Hallo, Dance to the 60’s bestaat 12,5 jaar!! (zie de flyer op onze website: http://www.dancetothesixties.nl ) Verdere informatie: De avond zelf begint 22 november om 20:00 uur en eindigt rond 2:30 uur. De eerste band wordt Big Shampoo & the Hairstylers, (een Brian Setzer Orchestra coverband, die de clash of coverbands hebben gewonnen) De 2e band is That Crazy Beat, (Een nederlandse Rockabilly band die in de jaren 80 een grote naam hadden. Hun hoogte punt is toch wel de verschillende televisie optredens o.a in de 5 uur show en het boek Rock and Roll van Boudewijn Buch waar maar liefst 2 volledige pagina's wordt gewijdt aan dit fantastisch rockabilly Trio.
