Rock This Town, Aspelt (Lux)
On a sunny Sunday afternoon we decided it would be a great time for a visit to our western neighbours. So after a 2h30 in the car we arrived at Aspelt, a small town in the south of Luxembourg, not really the place were you would expect an event like this to take place. The US cars near the entrance showed us we were in the right place. The hall were this event was organized was awesome, a fully restored old building, it had a 2 floors layout, although the second floor was closed off, a huge terrace, very high ceilings, huge bar and a cocktailbar, but since I was the designated driver no alcohol for me today, I must admit I had a few sips of some ... continue reading

Ruby Dee & The Snakehandlers @ Den Daak Duffel
After missing out on the Ace Rumble gig and thus not getting to see Ruby Dee and The Snakehandlers, we headed over to Den Daak in Duffel for another change.
Den Daak is the local youth club, so think of a small room, dangerous stairs to get to the toilet ( specially when you’re drunk), no smoking. But great fun and as an extra they served La Chouffe. Man that’s a good beer, but dangerous. So back to the gig, this was organized by Eddie for the first time in cooperation with the youth club, but it was promised that if this gig had a good turn out it would defiantly be repeated. So hopefully we’ll be able to visit this place in the near ... continue reading

Mark & The Slum Dogs, Whiskey Daredevils, The United Steelworkers of Montreal.
Alright i’m a bit behind on concert reviews, so here’s one that covers a few bands in one time.
First of: Mark & The Slumdogs @ Bacchus café Geel
The first time I’ve been to this place, not a bad place. Looks small from the outside, but the bar is L shaped, with a rather big stage at the end. The interior isn’t much special, looks like it was some kind of pop music bar at first. But that defiantly would change this night. Mark Penington from the UK's legendary neo-rockabilly band 'The Caravans' performing 'unplugged' versions from the 2 top selling 'Caravans' albums 'Smashed and Stripped Bare' and 'Return To Zero' together ... continue reading

De titel I see a darkness ... continue reading

Patrick Ouchene Talks With EuroVisionary
Patrick Ouchene will represent Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song Copycat. He loves the style from the past, he loves making a hairstyle from the past, he has a special voice, so many people compare him with Elvis Presley. So what has he to say about it and his performance?
What does the Eurovision Song Contest mean to you?
Well, when I was a kid, I used to watch it with my familly. Then I lost interest in that, and for the last 6 months, I've discovered this world again. It is more aggressive than the 80's, more sex, more techno, more music.
What did you want to "say" with song Copycat?
It's ... continue reading

From The Slapbacks
Some of you already heard from our bad luck. We had a fatal car crash last Thursday on the way to one of our favourite bars in Munich. We were scheduled to play the 5th anniversary at the Peppermint Lounge. Sadly 20 miles before we reached the bar we slid over the whole highway with full speed and crashed into the roadside. Several rollovers later we hit a tree and landed on the roof. Luckily we all survived but sadly Mr. Watson got hurt really bad. He was brought into the hospital by helicopter due to his major injuries.
At the moment Mr. Watson is in Munich in hospital and has several surgeries 'cause his left shoulder and arm is heavily ... continue reading

Changes in line up of Wayne "The Train" Hancock's band
There are some minor changes in the band of Wayne "The Train" Hancock recently.
James Hunnicutt is taking over as lead guitarist. James is singer/songwriter/musician & producer from Washington State and brings with him a vast knowledge of music experience and the band is thrilled he will be taking a seat in the van and hitting the road with them.
Also Bob Hoffnar is taking over as steel guitarist. Bob has worked with many artists and recently stepped in to help Wayne finish out the current tour. The chemistry on stage was strong enough that Bob decided to step in full time.
All that happened during one week, so lets ... continue reading
