Red Eye Junction @ Ace Café Rumst 1 February
Sunday evening gig at the Ace Café, this time it was Red Eye Junction on stage.
This band from California play some country and americana and are playing their last show of this tour.
For this tour they were reinforced by George from 49 special on steel guitar and Johnny Trash behind the drums and on scratch-o-caster.
The singer has a nasal voice which reminded me of Hank Williams from time to time. Furthermore their music was good old fashioned country, nothing alternative, but more in the lines of Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Buck Owens.
Great gig, really fun music to listen to and without a doubt music that ... continue reading

Saturday 17 januari, Ray Gelato and his Giants, “ Handelsbeurs, Gent”
Radio Modern is thundering trough Flanders like a train. Halls fill up to the roof everywhere they go. The organizers defiantly know what they’re doing. If you turn the pages of a magazine or listen to the radio ( yeah even on Studio Brussel), you’ll find their name poppin up somewhere. The mood is always great and those responsible go out of their way to revive the 50’s atmosphere. The Handelsbeurs was an excellent place for this occasion. Even the wallpaper, as background to the seating area, was straight from the fifty’s. The Dutch there, claimed that something like that was unseen in Holland.
Let’s not forget that jive music is coming ... continue reading
