Cheney chats with Stray Cat

THE Stray Cats' 1980 hit Runaway Boys changed Chris Cheney's life.
He was only five when it was released, but when he discovered it as a 13-year-old it
introduced him to the rockabilly sound that linked back to the music his parents
loved.
Seeing the Stray Cats live in 1990 was a massive influence on the formation of The
Living End – Scott Owen bought a stand-up double bass instead of a piano and
the pair formed a covers band called Runaway Boys.

Rockabilly Roundup 2, 18 – 19 – 20 July 2008, De Mortel ( NL)
For the second the Rockabilly Roundup was held in a small Dutch town. This year the location was changed to riding stables, but what a great location it was. Certainly with the weather outside it couldn’t hurt to be inside. As was the case last year the place was well equipped. There was the possibility to take a shower, nice toilets and a big meadow to set up camp for the weekend.. … Franky is gone tell you a bit about Friday night first… . Opening band on friday was Catslappin' Trio or Catslappin' Chrissy without leadsinger Chrissy who's pregnant again. Congrats from the whole Billy Bop team !

King Of Clubs Owner, Bob King, Dies
SWIFTON - Bob King, who owned the King of Clubs nightspot in Swifton, where Elvis
Presley, Johnny Cash and other performers in the early days of rock 'n' roll
performed, has died. He was 83.
King ran the nightclub in Swifton for more than 50 years, playing host to country,
rhythm and blues, and rock acts, including Jerry Lee Lewis, Conway Twitty and Sonny
Burgess, who had five singles with Sun Records. The club, east of Batesville and
west of Jonesboro on Arkansas 226, is still operating.

The Rock-a-Bops at the Rambler.
This band is really something playing real and authentic rock & roll songs.
Of course they played the songs of their CD "Wild Child " (2007) and classics like California sun, Blue moon of Kentucky,Tahalassie Lasie, Johnny Machine and Bop-a-lena.
The small crowd (where were the lovers of real rock & roll ) gets excited and calling out for more.

Hep Cats weekend @ Kewstoke near Bristol, 4,5 and 6 July 2008-07-10
It was the First time this festival was organized. The music played was from the era’s 30, 40 and 50’s, strictly swing, jump jive and rhythm and blues. My cup of tea. It was a huge risk taken by the organizers, cause for many people this period, especially the 1930’s and 40’s is a long time ago and so relatively unknown. It was a big surprise then to find out that the event was fully booked and more then 200 people where on the waiting list. I soon realized why. This was basically a dance weekend, to say the least.
