“Vinyl Highway,” Dee Dee Phelps’ memoir of the music scene of the 1960s, is a trip down memory lane for music buffs.
Phelps, half of the early 60s singing duo Dick and Dee Dee, shares several stories of performing with the likes of Dick Clark, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, Tina Turner, and many other stars of the era. Her effort is a captivating look at the music industry, as told by someone with first-hand knowledge.
You may remember the duo as semi-permanent fixtures on television’s “Shin-Dig,” as well as occasional performers on “American ... continue reading

Reinstate Hank
The Reinstate Hank campaign calls for the remittal of Opry star, and country music legend, Hank Williams. More than fifty years have passed since the tragic and untimely death of country music's greatest performer, who made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry on June 11, 1949, with the crowd demanding an unheard of six encores.

Despite being one of the ... continue reading

For me Rock’n’roll consists of a lot of different music styles, ranging from Rhythm & Blues to Rockabilly. I’ve always had a weak spot for instrumental Rock’n’roll, and no one can say that with thinking of the Shadows. The backing group of Cliff Richards in the late 50’s and early 60’s, and have contributed a lot to his success. So my wife and me where on route to Gemert on the 8th of march for a gig of “ The Shadows Tribute band” in hall Manders, a beautiful ballroom with wooden dance floor and big mirrors. This happening was organized by the “ back to the sixties” club. No rockers present that night, just people wanting to make it a pleasant ... continue reading
