The Hi Tombs @ Tiki’s Gierle 26/01/2008
On a Saturday the ace café crew went on a stray and ended up at Tiki’s in Gierle for a night of Rock’n’roll. And we thought we would see a lot of familiar faces there again, but turns out that wasn’t the case. The place was hardly filled, hardly any rockin people there, of course our Dutch photographers were there again, so as you see below pictures on their page again. Now back to the gig.

Chuck Berry to receive Germany's Golden Camera award
BERLIN - GERMANY'S Golden Camera awards will recognize Chuck Berry with a trophy for his life's work, organizers said Sunday, praising the US rock legend as a 'paragon for generations of rock musicians'.
The 81-year-old musician is expected to attend the annual Golden Camera award ceremony to be held in Berlin on Feb 6, said the leading TV magazine owned by publisher Axel Springer AG, which sponsors the ceremony.

Bettie Page in hospital - send her your best wishes!
For those of you fans that don't already know, just before Christmas, Bettie (who is 84 years
old now) was admitted to a hospital, suffering from a combination of pneumonia and a
kidney infection. Bettie has improved slightly but is still unable to speak. In mid-January, she
was moved to a nursing home where she is still receiving a lot of care. Let's all put her in our
thoughts and prayers.

2nd edition of Billybop's Rockabilly Sundays, with 2 young Belgian bands playing in Zaal De Gilde, a small western styled line dance club. Did you notice the signs saying "anyone not involved in country or disrupting the dancing will be excluded from this locale" ? Added attractions were the chicken gumbo and seafood gumbo that was being sold by a stall from the Cajun Queen restaurant from Antwerp, Jack Daniel's being sold by the shot, and movie projections (with the sound off, obviously, as that would have interfered with the rockabilly tunes being played) of Viva Las Vegas 2007, old hot rod docs, and Betty Page's color feature Teaserama (1955). ... continue reading

Mr & Mrs Sprex Birthday party @ Ace Café
And what a party it was.
The birthday couple ( yes they have their birthday on the same day) organized one hell of a party at the Ace Cafe. By 20.00 the place was already filled and even more people joined them on this special day.
On stage for the night: The Rhumba Kings and special guests.
Round 20.30 the Rhumba Kings did a sound check and after that it was time for my debut on stage.
