Rock pioneer Ike Turner dies at age 76
LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Ike Turner, best remembered for his successful musical partnership and violently abusive marriage to singer Tina Turner, has died at home in California, his manager said Wednesday. He was 76.
Turner, credited with writing what is often described as the first Rock and Roll record, 1951's "Rocket 88," died peacefully at his home in San Marcos, manager Scott Hanover confirmed to AFP.
"He passed away this morning," Hanover, of Thrill Entertainment Group, said from his office in Florida.
Tina Turner's management company later issued a brief statement on her ex-husband, who subjected her to years of spousal ... continue reading

The Travelin' men (Hilvarenbeek) December 1
To hear some live Jump and Jive music, traveling long distances is no problem. When the trip you make, is for a band like the Travelin'men, you don't have to worry it'll pay off. This band from Tilburg (NL) is not that known amongst the Rock 'n Roll public, yet they have already been busy making music for about 10 ten years and they certainly earn more acknowledgement.
They know how to please the public with their fifties jump style. They bring slow-paced numbers like: "Tell it like it is"; "Okay, all right you win"... and they get the crow dancing with faster songs like: "Seven nights to rock"; "You got me reelin'and rocking"...

The Be-Bops, Ace Cafe Rumst 9/12/2007
Once again a night of Rock’n’Roll in the Ace Cafe Rumst. I know it seems that lately all of my reviews are from gigs in this pub. But you’ll have to agree with me that it’s a great place, and another advantage for me is that, it’s only 5 min from my doorstep.
Ok, so back to last Sunday night. This time it were the Be-Bops that came to set the place on fire.
After 25 years of Rockin, they sure know how to do that. After a few problems with one of the guitar cables, the sound these guys produced was great and they kept it up for 2 sets, even passing the curfew time of 22h00. Although Patrick D. had something to do with that as well.

The Rhythm Riot, Chamber England
All right this is a report written by 2 of our reporters, namely Jack & Jiving Walter, so opinions may be different sometimes.
After being at a great Rave, we decided it would be a great idea to visit another big festival in England, namely the Rhythm Riot. Organized in the same venue as the Rave, but this time in November, which has a pretty cold feeling to it in England. On Friday night it was freezing cold. But that didn’t mean that this was one hell of a party. Except the new smoking law over there, which meant we had to go outside to enjoy our daily smokes, but that meant we could meet some new people and have a chat as well.
