Rockin Bowl Antwerp 24/03/2007
Once again the Rockin Bowl has been organised by Sam & Rudy.
A great evening with bowling, film and 2 great bands. Again the place was packed and the evening went well past 2 o’clock, or was it 3 o’clock ( well it was the same time anyway).

First band on stage: The Rocka-t-Bones. This band is a rockabilly trio in the pure meaning of the word: no drums, just a slap beat from Selim. And what a beat did he make, he really knows how to keep a rhythm going. On Lead guitar Tom, playing some great raw guitar licks, and on rhythm guitar and vocals by Filip.
On their setlist:
“ High Sierra”, “ I done told you”, “ Ain’t it wrong”,  ... continue reading

Second time I saw this band, from San Fransisco, play Alt-Country and are based around the duo Maurice Tani ( guitar/vocals ) and Jenn Courtney. Just love their voices. The other members of the band are : Christopher Fisher ( Drums), Keith Bahjat ( Bass ), Steve Kallai ( Fiddle). It was the last show of their European tour, so they promised to give all that they have left, and they sure did keep up to this promise. An even better show then at Den Bromfiets. They audience really appreciated the show and called the band back for 3 songs.
Their setlist contains mostly self written songs and a few covers.
Songs like: “ Honky Tonkin”, “ Bad  ... continue reading

Winter Barn Dance at Cruise Inn, Amsterdam
Here's a review from Rosie Flores on her weekend in Europe (in Germany and at the Cruise Inn in Amsterdam with John Miller & his Country Casuals and the Big Bayou Bandits):

The flight into Amsterdam was long but not as long as the hours left to travel before I could actually get into my hotel room and sleep. Fortunately before the 5 hour drive to Germany we included a couple of stops for some home cooked tasty traditional Dutch meals and then we were off.

I feared we’d gotten lost for a minute or 2 but finally after a couple of hours or so out of the country roads we arrived at a tiny airport in Germany where I got to meet  ... continue reading

The Travellin Men, Tiki’s Gierle 10/03/2007
This Dutch Jump and swing band entertained the audience. They play fifties inspired Rhythm and Blues and they play it well.
From the first note they played the mood was right, The showmanship and instrument control was awesome. Their set list was a mix between self penned songs and covers.
Songs like: “ Chickens”, “ Slow down”, “ At the movies”, “ let it rain”, “ Romp’n Stomp”, “ 7 nights to rock”, “ Flip Flop ‘n’ Fly”, “ Route 66”, “ Tryin”, “ Rocket 69”, followed each other in a good tempo and made almost everyone foot tap or move their head to the rhythms.
Good to see that bands like this are still around and very appreciated by  ... continue reading
