Saturday night nothing to do, so we headed towards Vorselaar for the 3de edition of the pub crawl. Once we got there i realized i forgot my camera at home. But rescue was already there, namely John & Lucy.
What we noticed immedialty was that there weren’t as many people ( read Cats and Kittens) as last year. A lot less Rockabilly bands aswell. The biggest disadvantage was that 3 of the 4 bands played at the same time. It’s my opinion that if they don’t change this next year, it will be a pubcrawl without quiffs and bangs.
The bands: The Buckshots ( loads of fun and good music as usual ) at café Toekomst. After that a quick peek at Taverne ... continue reading

Concert review: Billy Bacon & The Forbidden Pigs @ Den Bromfiets 15/04/2007
After wondering around drunk trough the Belgian countryside, I finally got home after Rockin Around Turnhout. So thanx to Franky for fulfilling my duty’s and writing the review for it.
So it was decided to spend another Sunday afternoon in a small town called Bonheiden.
We got there a bit early ( not like last year, were I only managed to see the last set) and saw the band transforming from a couple of guys in shirts and shorts, to a band dressed in full get up.
Well to be honest Billy kept shorts on, but they matched his costume.
These guys play a variation of styles ranging from Blues to Rock’n’ roll , Tex Mex, with songs ... continue reading

Concert Review: Rockin' Around Turnhout 2007
Dunno why Jack hasn't brought in his report yet (he's been missing since Rockin' Around Turnhout) but as we vowed a solemn pledge to inform all you Billy Boppers out there about all things happening in our neck of the woods, I thought I'd trow in my 2 bits worth of rock journalism. Do bear in mind however that I write this more than a week after the facts and without any notes as I lost them amidst the approximately 3 kilograms of flyers that piled out of my pockets after 2 nights of drinkin' and rockin'.
Saturday at the pré-party Lawen Stark & The Slide Boppers' authentic rockabilly and white rock must have been a discovery for most visitors ... continue reading

Johnny Cash' house burned down
The Tennessee home of late country icon Johnny Cash burned down on Tuesday (April 10) as renovations were under way for its new owner, Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees.
Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash, lived together in the three-story, wooden lakeside house in Hendersonville, Tennessee, about 20 miles (32 km) north of Nashville, from 1968 until they died within months of each other in 2003.
The Hendersonville Star News quoted a fire official as saying the blaze probably started when fumes from a wood preservative used in the renovations were ignited by a spark.
The house was featured in the Grammy-winning video "Hurt," in which ... continue reading
