Concert Review: The Rocka-T-Bones, Ace Cafe Rumst, 10/02/2007
This is a new ( well they’ve been around for about a year now) rockabilly trio in the pure meaning of the word: no drums, just a slap beat from Selim. And what a beat did he make, he really knows how to keep a rhythm going. On Lead guitar Tom, playing some great raw guitar licks, and on rhythm guitar and vocals by Filip.
Their play list consist of self penned songs and a bunch of covers.
“ High Sierra”, “I done told you”, “ Ain’t it wrong”, “ Midnights shift”, “ Juke Joint Baby”, “ Lil’ Hotrod Ford”, “ Promised Land Revisited”, “ Fever”, “ Bright lights, Big City”, “ Rock & Roll Guitar”, “ Little Miss Helpless”, “ Flame of Love”, “ ... continue reading

Concert Review Roots Night, Hof Ter Lo, 04/02/2007
Loads of people their for a Sunday night.
First band in the Bar Area:
Stinky Lou & The Goon mat.
These guys play a kind of Blues. The band consist of: a singer/guitarplayer/drummer, a Harmonicaplayer and a washtub bass plunker. These guys did an excellent job on warming up the audience.
Sorry can only remember one songs: “ Big Boss Man”.
First band in the Main Hall:
The Bluegrass Boogiemen, back by popular demand. As their name suggest they play old time Bluegrass, time to have some fun. The instrument control these guys had was awesome.
They only did a half hour gig which was a bit too short in my eyes. ... continue reading

Lubbock scraps Holly name at two sites
LUBBOCK, Texas - Don't plan on strolling down the Buddy Holly Walk of Fame the next time you're in his West Texas birthplace. The City Council has rescinded a 1995 resolution that created the name.
The vote came Thursday after Civic Lubbock Inc, a nonprofit group created by the city in 1956, faced a dispute with Holly's widow, Maria Elena Holly, over payment for the use of the rocker's name at the Walk of Fame and Buddy Holly Terrace.
Holly died in 1959. His widow had been seeking a licensing agreement and name usage fees for the two sites.
Dan Burns, president of Civic Lubbock, estimated the payment could have been ... continue reading
