Cajun & Zydeco festival Dortmund, Germany
The only bad thing we can say about this festival was the weather. The organisation, the bands, the crowd, the atmosphere, the drinks and the food (jambalaya and gumbo included) were great! Because the rain didn’t allow an “open air-festival”, all bands played inside. But the good food was a reason to take a shower outside.
Big Bayou Bandits ( www.bigbayoubandits.com ) played an enthusiastic set of good ol’ Cajun (such as “Lafayette”, “Choupique Two-Step”, “Ouvre Cette Porte”, “One Step A Chaumant”, “J’suis Content D’être Un Cajun”…), Bayou Rockabilly (like “Back Home Again In Louisiana” and their own “Paddle On The Bayou”) and Bluegrass ... continue reading

Concert Review: Jimmy Sutton’s Four Charms. Den Bromfiets 28 may 2006
Another Sunday afternoon in a quiet little town called Bonheiden.
Erwin & Tom arranged for another great band to stir up things there.
And man what a band it was.
The hottest jumpin band as they are called on the flyer.
This sure wasn’t a lie. These guys sure know how to play.
Jimmy sure knows how to get the best out of the doghouse.
Too bad his E string had a mind of his own. The damn thing kept popping of the bridge.
Their playlist contained songs like:
“ I gotta get another girl”, “ Sherry Flip”, “ Lonesome Tears”, “ Further down the road”, “ Up jumped the devil”, “ Cubano Jump”, “ Triskaidekaphobia ( or to ... continue reading

The Rhumba Kings
Hot news...
22 May 2006, Mark and Patrick decided to not work together any longer. In Breda on 21 May was Patrick's last gig.
The Rhumba kings will continue to play with an excellent guitarplayer which name will be announced very shortly.
He will also appear on the new ceedee at the end of this year. Mark was already singing 70 % of the setlist so now he will take care of the full 100% .
We wish Patrick good luck with other projects.
Check out the website for more updates and giglist.
Rockin' regards,
Diane, Mark and Jean.

Concert Review: The Mighty Quiffs, Saturday 13 may 2006, Jh t Veldeke Holsbeek.
Well there’s a first time for everything. Sorry guys but this was bad.
Ben was back to his old self. This was like watching Benvis perform again. I bet that even the mic was scared of him after a while, those things aren't eatable.
The guitar player Rico did an excellent job, although it sometimes seemed that he was playing something different then the rest of the band. Ron, being the great bullfiddler that he is, he was the only one of the band did actually kept rhythm, although when the rest of the band speeds up, he had to follow, just to try to make something good of it. Tim the drummer, did a good job, hasn’t been drumming ... continue reading

Johnny Cash: Personal File
Even though this two-CD package won't be in stores until May 23, I think many Johnny Cash fans would enjoy a preview of the latest in his long line of releases.
Johnny Cash: Personal File is a collection of 49 previously unreleased tracks that had been stored on tapes marked "Personal File" in the House of Cash in Hendersonville. They were all tracks he recorded with just his acoustic guitar and his voice and then stored away in a private room where he kept such personal treasures as his Jimmie Rodgers memorabilia. Apparently at the time he recorded them, he thought no one would be interested in such a stripped-down sound. When he later ... continue reading
