Concert Review: Slim Jim phantom Rockabilly Trio @ The kroeg ( Tuesday 18 april 2006)
The legendary drummer returns to Holland, bringing along Darell Higham ( UK), and Huib Moor ( NL). I don’t think any of these guys need an introduction.
Opening the set : “ Rumble in Brighton” this set the mood for the rest of the evening. Other songs played: “ Domino”, “ 20 Flight Rock ( in memory of Eddy ), “ A heartache I can’t bare”, “ C’mon everybody”, “ Red hot”, ‘ Rock this town”, “ Burning love”, “ Sweet sweet girl”, “ Runaway Boys, “ Stray cat strut”. No need to say that the gig was excellent, what else can we expect from these guys.
Especially for this tour they recorded a new cd: Katmen, (for wich I’ll write a review soon), ... continue reading

Concert review: Billy Bacon and the forbidden Pigs; Den Bromfiets Bonheiden ( Monday 17 April 2006)
Got there a bit late so only saw the second set. These guys play a variation of styles ranging from Blues to Rock’n’ roll , Tex Mex. The bassplayer looked like a traindriver, and that’s how they play, thundering along the tracks. During “Ring of Fire” ( Johnny and June, aka Erwin and Tom, joined the band on stage, and did a slightly different version). Since we lost our stylo at Turnhout ( so if anyone can spare one, plz send it to us at: Ineedastylo@becauseilostmine.be), and a hangover, I can only remember Nina Mas Fina being played. Closing the set a Jazzy tune, in witch the incorporated a load of famous songs, like “ smoke on the water”,… ... continue reading

Concert review: The Stacy Cats – 8 April 2006 – Tiki’s Gierle
Last Saturday at Tiki’s: The Stacy Cats; I must say the turn up was a bit disappointing at first, but the atmosphere was great. But good live music and a rockin Dj what else does one need?
The Stacy Cats: Renzo ( guitar and vocals), Eric ( Double bass), Marco ( Drums) play straight up rockabilly; the first set was a bit more relaxed then the second. But these guys play and shift between styles, like a truck driver shifting up and down without messing up the gearbox. Marco beats them drums like his live depends on it.
They opened with “Washmachine boogie”, “ Take me back”, “Lonesome Train”, “ Texas boogie”, “Slippin in” and ... continue reading
