Chris Watson @ Afkick Elastiek Festival, Hilvarenbeek( NL) 11/05/2008
A bright blue sky and a burning sun are always guaranteed to bring out a lot of curious people on festivals. A full tent was the consequence.
Chris Watson had all the cards to make it a splendid gig. To my great shame I must admit that I haven’t see this guy perform before, nevertheless he’s been performing for a few years now.
After spending a few weeks in the Sun Studios, recording his new cd, this Walloon returned to Europe. I was told that he changed his look as well, his opulent hair changed into a quiff. His appearance was a great success, to say the least. This boogie woogie pianist, accompanied by a drummer and a upright bass ... continue reading

Sinnerbash 10/05/2008
Not as many people as one might expect nor as Angelo Von Zelli from Sinner
Supply, Antwerp's # 1 rockin' shop, had hoped for with a bill that featured 2
favorite local bands + 1 new band from Switserland, but what can one do about
that ? Was it the good weather ? Was everybody out BBQ-ing ? Are we spoiled for
choice with so many concerts and festivals ? Which bands guarantee a full house
? Does the public say : "oh well, we've seen Johnny Trash and Clark & the Aces
so many times already, and we never heard of Slam & Howie so we don't bother" ?
Like Ricky Nelson said : you can't please everybody so you gotta please
yourself. ... continue reading

By JOHN GEROME, Associated Press Writer
Thu May 8, 7:27 PM ET
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Eddy Arnold, whose mellow baritone on songs like "Make the World Go Away" made him one of the most successful country singers in history, died Thursday morning, days short of his 90th birthday.
Arnold died at a care facility near Nashville, said Don Cusic, a professor at Belmont University and author of the biography "Eddy Arnold: I'll Hold You in My Heart." His wife of 66 years, Sally, had died in March, and in the same month, Arnold fell outside his home, injuring his hip.
Arnold's vocals on songs like the 1965 "Make the ... continue reading

Elvis ‘appears’ on Welsh rock
May 1 2008 by Steffan Rhys, Western Mail
Elvis rock
HIS name has long been linked with an isolated and mysterious corner of West Wales and now it looks like Elvis Presley may have returned to his spiritual home.
A ghostly image of the King of Rock and Roll has appeared on an ornamental Welsh slate in a back garden in the shadow of the Preseli mountains in what could become a shrine to the most successful singer in music history.
And the apparition’s shocked owner is already being offered upwards of £1,000 for the now treasured rock, which was discovered by chance when her young niece asked her: “Who is that man ... continue reading

Billy Lee Riley still 'Red Hot' despite bypass, hip surgeries
By John Beifuss (Contact)
Monday, May 5, 2008
Rockabilly pioneer Billy Lee Riley, 74, returned to the stage Sunday at the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival for his first performance since a third hip replacement operation and quintuple-bypass emergency heart surgery in February threatened to silence the Sun Records legend forever.
Riley and two of his band members -- drummer J.M. Van Eaton and keyboardist Larry Donn -- are among the last survivors of the 1950s rockabilly era that also produced Elvis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis. Lewis performed on the Sam's Town Stage in Tom Lee Park two hours ... continue reading

JERRY LEE LEWIS & THE KILLER BAND ( in Dutch )
JERRY LEE LEWIS & THE KILLER BAND
Jerry Lee Lewis & The Killer Band op 26 november in Vorst Nationaal [Club]!
Rock 'n Roll dood?
"The Killer". Het was Elvis Presley die ooit zei: "Als ik op een dag piano kan
spelen zoals ... continue reading
