Winter Sjock @ 't Hoekske, Gierle 24/02/07
Now that's what I call a double bill : The Seatsniffers AND Runnin' Wild, 2 Belgian bands that have proven their worth over the years through a series of concerts and albums, tonight together on stage @ 't Hoekske, the youth club located right across the world famous Tiki's Bar in Gierle, hometown of the Sjock Festival.
Runnin' Wild is a band that has kept fresh by making sure you never know exactly what, or rather who, you're gonna get, and tonight was no exception as they appeared in the I'm A Lover Not A Fighter line up of Patrick Ouchène (guitar + vocals), Big Ben (double bass) and Koen Verbeek (drums + vocals), augmented by Renaud Crols, ... continue reading

Concert review: Bandits 49, American Bar Leuven 24/02/07
Second time some of us saw the bandits 49. This four piece band played a lot of covers, ranging from Rockabilly to Country and songs that had a bluesy feel to it.
We’re looking forward to hear some new material from these guys. Their a great band that can entertain an audience.
On their playlist: “Creek Cats”, “Rumble in Brighton”, “Flyin Saucer r’n’r”, “ Baby did a bad thing”, “ Summertime Blues”, “ Wipe out”, “ Assembly line”, “ Folsom Prison”, “ Honey Don’t”, “ Stray cat Strut”, “ Tush”, “ New religion”, “ Camel walk”, “ Help me”, “ 20 flight rock”, “ Cheatin Heart”, “ Cocaine blues”, “ Peroxide blond”, “ Blitzkrieg Bop”.

Concert Review The Domino's @ New CanCan, Brussels,16/02/2007
Have you heard the news ?
The Domino's are back !
Surprised ? Yes...
Amazing ? Maybe...
Something's changed ? Hardly....
After 16 years, these cats found each other again and reformed The
Domino's, the original rockabilly trio that would eventually become
the big swing thing in France with a major record label deal, and the
forerunner of Patrick Ouchene's band Runnin' Wild.
The Donimo's formed in the late 80's and released a self titled LP/cd
on Rockhouse in 1990, and now, 16 years after their last gig, they're
back in the original line up featuring Patrick Ouchene (vocals +
guitar), ... continue reading

Concert Review: The Rocka-T-Bones, Ace Cafe Rumst, 10/02/2007
This is a new ( well they’ve been around for about a year now) rockabilly trio in the pure meaning of the word: no drums, just a slap beat from Selim. And what a beat did he make, he really knows how to keep a rhythm going. On Lead guitar Tom, playing some great raw guitar licks, and on rhythm guitar and vocals by Filip.
Their play list consist of self penned songs and a bunch of covers.
“ High Sierra”, “I done told you”, “ Ain’t it wrong”, “ Midnights shift”, “ Juke Joint Baby”, “ Lil’ Hotrod Ford”, “ Promised Land Revisited”, “ Fever”, “ Bright lights, Big City”, “ Rock & Roll Guitar”, “ Little Miss Helpless”, “ Flame of Love”, “ ... continue reading

Frankie Laine dead at 93
Frankie Laine, the singer with the booming voice who hit it big with such songs as "That Lucky Old Sun," "Mule Train," "Cool Water," "I Believe”, "Jezebel", Rawhide”, "Granada" and "Moonlight Gambler," died today at Mercy Hospital in San Diego. He was 93.
Laine entered the hospital over the weekend for hip replacement surgery but suffered complications from the operation, said his friend A.C. Lyles, the longtime producer at Paramount Pictures.
In all, Laine sold well over 100 million records and was hugely popular not only in the United States but in Britain and Australia.

Concert Review Roots Night, Hof Ter Lo, 04/02/2007
Loads of people their for a Sunday night.
First band in the Bar Area:
Stinky Lou & The Goon mat.
These guys play a kind of Blues. The band consist of: a singer/guitarplayer/drummer, a Harmonicaplayer and a washtub bass plunker. These guys did an excellent job on warming up the audience.
Sorry can only remember one songs: “ Big Boss Man”.
First band in the Main Hall:
The Bluegrass Boogiemen, back by popular demand. As their name suggest they play old time Bluegrass, time to have some fun. The instrument control these guys had was awesome.
They only did a half hour gig which was a bit too short in my eyes. ... continue reading
