Concert Review: El Rio Trio & Restless, Cruise Inn A'dam 30/12/2006
What a better way too close a good rockin' year then with a visit to Amsterdam too watch El Rio Trio & Restless play. For Restless it was their last European gig, if you wanna watch these guys play again, your only chance will be Las Vegas next year, after that they're putting an end to a magnificent band.
But back to last saturdaynight now, opening the concert: El Rio Trio.
These guys put up an excellent show and play some great Riobilly aswell, we're looking forward to welcome them at our festival this year. They played songs like: " Gunning for the dog", " So long baby goodbye", " Hot rod rockin", " Hip shakin baby ", " El gringo ", ... continue reading

Sunday night, what a better way too close the weekend, then with a gig by The Buckshots.
For the people that don’t know them yet ( shame on you), these guys from Gierle play Country-Hillbilly with lots of close harmony vocals.
They get better ever time we see them.
On their playlist at this gig:
First set: “ The Love Bug”, “ Beware”, “ Stand up”, “ You better treat your man right”, “ Maybe Baby”, “ Someone sweet to love”, “ My Hearts on Fire”, “ Play the music louder”, “ Hot Rod Linclon ( excellent song)”, “ Rockin’ Country Cat”, “ Love Me”, “ All I can do is cry”, “ Knock on wood”, “ Tennessee Border”

Bandits 49 @ JH Tyl, Diest 16/12/2006
Saturday night it was time to check out Bandits 49 ( with our good friend Beireke). They played in JH Tijl, Diest. At 20u30 they started the show and what a show. This 4 piece rockabilly outfit plays a lot of covers, but with a hell of a lot enthusiasm. They played songs from The Stray Cats ( Rumble in Brighton & Stray Cat Strut), Carl Perkins ( Honey Don’t), Eddie Cochran ( Summertime Blues, 20th Flight Rock), and a reat version of Assembly Line ( Seatsniffers). In between a beautiful version of Wipe out ( Surfaris). Even Johnny Cash got a place in there, with songs like Folsom Prison and Cocaine Blues. After that it was time to introduce ... continue reading

Concert Review: Catslappin Chrissy @ Kid’s, Antwerp 8/12/2006
Friday night was a good night to go and see the favourite band of our fellow reporter James ( the one who reviews the beer).
Well on arriving there the band was represented by one man ( the bassplayer), so we thought it was gonne be a one man show, but after a while the other members slipped in.
What followed was a good gig, not much rockers present, but the people in the audience made up for that. Everybody seemed to have a good time, and I guess that’s what it’s all about.
Songs they played:
“ Mama’s here”, “ Let’s Elope Baby”, “ Gonnna Rock My Baby”, “ So long baby goodbye”, “ Real Rock Drive”, “ This little girl’s gone rockin”, ... continue reading

Los Fabulous Frankies ride again!
After Wanda Jackson and Dick Dale, the Roots Night managed to book another rock and roll legend for the 11th Roots Night on Sunday February 4 in Antwerp.
Actually, the legend is Stray Cats bass player Lee Rocker, but the good news is that the Roots Night team convinced Los Fabulous Frankies to play an exclusive show in exchange for an undisclosed 6 digit sum. Unfortunately for the boys the 6 digit sum is in pesos, not in euros...
More good news is that Rocker will bring his own band and will not be accompanied
by de Frankies!
Anyway, all joking aside, at the request from fans, friends, and The Frankies' very ... continue reading
